Itinerary
  • Begin your tour on the historic Belvedere, where two bronze figures stand in silent vigil over the Ohio River—one a perpetrator of cruelty, the other a victim of it. Bound by history, they now share this space forever, their stories etched in the past and whispered on the wind.
  • Continue your tour into the shadowed alleyways behind bustling Whiskey Row, where more than bourbon barrels were once bought and sold. Once a center of commerce, this hallowed ground bears the weight of a darker trade—one that bound human lives in chains and left stories too heavy to be forgotten.
  • Stop for a drink inside a historic Whiskey Row bar full of spirits – in more ways than one. Once a bourbon distillery whose workers met a tragic fate, then a hotel destroyed by deadly fire, its walls hold more than just history. Enjoy a cocktail or drink of your choice as you uncover the lingering stories of the souls who never checked out.
  • Continue onward to the Cathedral of the Assumption, where the horrors of Bloody Monday took place. Learn about this gruesome chapter in Louisville’s history on the very steps where history was written in fear, fire, and fury.

You’ll meet your guide 15 minutes before the tour start time, at the the big green Wes Banco sign, at the entrance to the Belvedere Plaza on 5th and West Main StreetHere’s a picture to help!

Some stories are unsettling, as they reflect the difficult realities of the past. Q: Is this a ghost tour or a true crime tour?
A: Both! This tour is both a dark history/true crime tour AND a ghost tour. In addition to the spirits who still lurk in the historic buildings of downtown Louisville, we’ll regale you with horrifying true stories from Louisville’s checkered past. You’ll find out why Louisville’s nickname was once the “Graveyard of the West” – and hear horrifying stories which are deeply researched and entirely true.

Q: Will the tour start in the same spot as it begins?
You’ll end at Jefferson Square Park, about a 10 minute walk from where the tour begins on the Belvedere. We’ll make sure you know how to get back to your car!

Q: Is there food and drink on this tour?
A: Yes, the tour will make 1 stop at a haunted bar. A cocktail of your choice from an exclusive custom menu is included in the price of your ticket (mocktails, beer, or soda are also available.) You’re also welcome to order off-menu if you choose. Food is not included during this tour, but you may purchase snacks at our second bathroom stop.

Q: Are there stops for the bathroom on this tour?
A: Yes, we will make 2 bathroom stops. One during our cocktail stop, and one closer to the end of the tour.

Q: Is this tour appropriate for all ages?
A: This tour covers true history that may be disturbing or upsetting for certain age groups. The tour also includes 1.5 hours of standing and walking. You know your kiddos best, but we suggest a 12+ age minimum. Kiddos 2 and under are always welcome to join our tours for free.

Q: Is this an after-dark tour?
We time our tours to begin around sunset and end after dark. However, it does depend on the time of year and your specific tour start time. For instance, during the winter, 6pm is dark as midnight; but in mid July, the sun will still be setting around 10 PM. To ensure a spookier ambiance, book the latest tour time available!
